Netflix Renews ‘Money Heist’ Spinoff ‘Berlin’ for Season 2

At Netflix, the spinoff series “Berlin” from the “Money Heist” franchise has been renewed for a second season.

In the second season, Pedro Alonso will again reprise his role as the title character. In addition, several cast members, including Michelle Jenner as Keila, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández as Roi, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce, will also be returning to the show.

In the Spanish-language series, the events that take place in “Money Heist” (also known as “La casa de papel”) are set before the events of the series. Similar to the first instalment of the series, “Berlin” follows the efforts of Alonso’s character and his gang as they attempt to pull off a daring heist that is worth millions of dollars. The second season will begin filming in 2025.

Netflix reports that during the week that the series made its debut, it was the most-watched series on the platform worldwide, and it also made it into the top 10 charts in 91 different countries.

During seven consecutive weeks, it maintained its position within the top ten of the non-English television rankings, and it has gathered a total of 53 million views. It is the seventh most-watched series in Netflix’s history that is not in the English language.

A collaboration between Álex Pina, the inventor of “Money Heist,” and Esther Martínez Lobato resulted in the creation of “Money Heist: Berlin.”

“Berlin” is the most recent instalment in the “Money Heist” franchise released by Netflix. This comes after the original series achieved unprecedented levels of success.

In addition, the streaming service introduced a Korean adaptation of the show, which was given the title “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area.” The launch of this version took place in two parts, in June and December of 2022.

Before Netflix purchased the worldwide streaming rights to the series in 2017, “Money Heist” debuted on the Spanish television channel Antena 3, where it was initially broadcast. Its popularity skyrocketed worldwide, quickly becoming one of the most-watched shows in the history of the non-English language television industry.
